Today, anti-abortion extremist Michelle Steel is running as fast as she can from the abortion-banning, IVF-restricting Life at Conception Act she proudly cosponsored just two months ago.
Steel has been pulling out all the stops to mislead voters on her repeated support for restricting reproductive freedom, having twice signed onto this total abortion ban with no exceptions, even in cases of rape, incest, or when the life of the woman is at stake. This Steel-sponsored legislation would also impose similar restrictions on IVF and fertility treatments as the Alabama Supreme Court ruling.
It took two weeks of bad press for Michelle Steel to finally admit that the Life at Conception Act would ban IVF… but it’s too late.
DCCC Spokesperson Dan Gottlieb:
“Michelle Steel has just admitted it plain as day: she proudly championed the Life at Conception Act, knowing it did not include exceptions for rape, incest, or life of the mother – and that it would restrict access to IVF across the country. But now that Orange County residents are expressing disgust with her record, Steel is backpedaling as fast as she can. Michelle Steel can’t outrun the reproductive rights-restricting mess she just helped create – and she won’t be able to wash her hands of this damning voting record come November.”
