🚨 Inside Elections Shifts 16 House Races in Democrats’ Favor

Democrats take MASSIVE lead in race for control of the House

Amidst overwhelming Democratic overperformance in special elections this year, coupled with Democrats winning every single competitive congressional district in New Jersey and Virginia last month, and the public continuing to sour on the Republican agenda, the nonpartisan Inside Elections moved 16 House race ratings in Democrats’ favor.

Those races include:

  • CA-48 – Rep Darrell Issa: Toss-up → Tilt Democratic
  • FL-07 – Rep. Cory Mills: Solid Republican → Likely Republican
  • MI-04 – Rep. Bill Huizenga: Likely Republican → Lean Republican
  • NE-02 – OPEN: Toss-up → Tilt Democratic
  • PA-01 – Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick: Likely Republican → Lean Republican
  • TN-05 – Rep. Andy Ogles: Solid Republican → Likely Republican
  • VA-01 – Rep. Rob Wittman: Likely Republican → Lean Republican

These new ratings reflect House Democrats’ momentum and energy heading into 2026. Year-to-date, the DCCC has out-raised and has more cash-on-hand than the NRCC, and is well-positioned to take back the House.

DCCC Communications Director Courtney Rice:
“The American people have soured on House Republicans’ record of broken promises, and these latest nonpartisan House shifts reflect what is happening on the ground across the country. Costs are going up, Americans are bracing for skyrocketing health insurance hikes, and voters are coming out en masse to elect Democrats from coast to coast. House Democrats have the money, message, and momentum to take back control of the House and stop Republican extremism once and for all.”
