🚨 RATINGS CHANGE: Cook Political Report Shifts AZ-01 in Democrats’ Direction as Amish Shah Gains Momentum

AZ-01 now rated “lean Democrat,” was previously “toss up”
Today, non-partisan race rater Cook Political Report shifted its prediction for Arizona’s 1st Congressional District towards Democrats — the latest sign that Arizonans are tired of being left behind by House Republicans.

Cook now rates AZ-01 as “lean Democrat.”

Cook writes in part that “Now that this seat is open, it represents one of Democrats’ best pick-up opportunities in the country… It’s hard to see a generic Democrat not having the edge over a generic Republican in this political environment.”

Cook adds that Jay Feely “is attempting to run as a political outsider, but his previous comments about wanting to ‘fight for [Trump]’ make it easier for Democrats to tie him to the president, whose approval rating is underwater by double digits in this district.”

“MAGA lapdog Jay Feely has made it clear that he works for his D.C. party bosses, not hardworking Arizona families. Dr. Amish Shah is an independent leader that knows what it means to put Arizonans first — that’s why they’ll send him to Congress in November.”
