| Non-partisan race rater Cook Political Report just shifted their prediction for Michigan’s 4th Congressional District to “Toss Up” as Sean McCann continues to build momentum.
In part, Cook writes:
- …polls continue to show the two candidates effectively tied. Trump, who won this seat by 5.5 points in 2024, has a favorability of 39% in one of the Democrats’ most recent polls.
- Democrats’ attacks against Huizenga are…hitting him for cutting health care funding and taking money from corporate interests.
- But Huizenga, who’s served in Congress since 2011 and previously served in the Michigan legislature, has done little to separate himself from the national Republican party over the course of career and may not be able to survive this difficult political environment.Â
The ratings change comes on the heels of Inside Elections also shifting their prediction for MI-04 in Democrats’ direction. The more that Michiganders learn about Huizenga’s record enriching himself while raising costs, the more they’re ready for change.
