| Non-partisan race-rater Cook Political Report shifted their prediction for Montana’s 1st Congressional District to Toss Up — the latest sign that Sam Forstag has the momentum to flip the district blue.
Cook writes in part that “Forstag, a 32-year-old former smokejumper with a strong populist streak, has kept this race close” and “some recent private polls show Forstag in the lead.”
The report also notes that “the combination of a more favorable political environment and a candidate with a unique profile who may overperform a generic Democrat gives them a clear shot this year.”
Cook’s shift is the latest in a wave of race raters moving their predictions for MT-01 towards Forstag, making it crystal clear that Montana families have soured on Republicans’ reckless agenda of jacking up costs and gutting health care.
DCCC Spokesperson Lindsay Reilly:
“Smoke jumper and union leader Sam Forstag has dedicated his career to putting others first. While Aaron Flint makes clear he plans to rubber-stamp whatever his D.C. party bosses want him to, Sam is ready to go to Congress and finally be a voice for working Montanans.” |
