🚨 RATINGS CHANGE: Inside Elections Shifts MN-01 Towards Democrats as Jake Johnson Gains Momentum

Nonpartisan race rater Inside Elections just moved Minnesota’s First District in Democrats’ direction as Jake Johnson continues to gain momentum – the latest indication that Brad Finstad faces the toughest race of his political career.

Inside Elections compared this cycle’s campaign to 2006, noting that this  district “came online late in the cycle” as Democrats “leveraged frustration over an unpopular war in the Middle East” to flip this seat.

The report notes Jake has “outraised [Brad] Finstad through the first six months of the year” and that Senator Amy Klobuchar – who won this district in three of her past campaigns – should “put up a strong performance in the open gubernatorial race.” And Jake is building the kind of campaign to flip this seat, “showing up everywhere to talk to everyone.”

This ratings change follows both Cook Political Report and Sabato’s Crystal Ball shifting the race in Jake’s direction.

DCCC Spokesperson Katie Smith:
“Brad Finstad is asleep at the wheel as Jake Johnson continues to build momentum to flip this seat and bring true representation to Southern Minnesota. Finstad sold Minnesotans out to the special interests and jacked up costs, while Jake will stand up to anyone for families like his – that’s why he’ll win this race.”
