| A new report exposes Darrell Issa’s decades-long crusade to abolish, defund, and dismantle the Affordable Care Act – and now, he’s saying the quiet part out loud.
After voting against stopping health care costs from “quadrupl[ing]” for his constituents, Issa openly admitted his goal was to eliminate Obamacare entirely:
“There’s intended to be a real phase out of Obamacare,” he told Fox Business in December.
Issa’s admission comes as no surprise. Reporting outlines how Issa has spent his entire career sabotaging health care for Southern Californians:
- “Between 2011 and 2017, Issa voted 17 times to abolish” the Affordable Care Act.
- In 2017, Issa was the “tie-breaking vote” on the American Health Care Act – projected to strip coverage from “nearly 37,000 people in [his] district.”
- In 2025, Issa voted for the Big Ugly Bill: putting “more than 24,000 people in his district” at risk of being uninsured – “more than 32,000 when the impact of expiring [ACA] tax credits is factored in.”
- “Two hospitals in Issa’s district, one in Murrieta and another in Temecula, are expected to see a combined $14 million dip in revenue” from his vote.
REMINDER: The last time Issa faced serious pressure from voters on health care, he retired. Anticipating a real challenge this year, he almost ran for the hills in Texas. He can’t run from his record of destroying health care programs families rely on.
