🍿 Grab Your Popcorn: Messy Republican Primary Fight Unfolding in MT-01

Zinke’s handpicked successor not strong enough to clear primary field

The Republican primary in Montana’s First Congressional District is getting messy.

Within roughly 24 hours of Ryan Zinke announcing his retirement and trying to anoint a successor, two other candidates have come out of the woodwork to take on Zinke’s preferred candidate.

Zinke’s announcement came just three days before the Montana filing deadline, a failed attempt to clear the path for his hand-picked candidate.

Clearly, Zinke’s choice just isn’t strong enough.

DCCC Spokesperson Lindsay Reilly:
“Montana Republicans’ clown car primary is getting messier by the minute. No matter which far-right candidate limps across the finish line, they will own Republicans’ toxic, price-spiking agenda and won’t stand a chance in November.”
