Bresnahan’s broken promises and costly corruption will be front and center

Tonight, Congressman Rob Bresnahan will take the WVIA debate stage after nearly two years of a seemingly never-ending stream of news about his prolific stock trading and corruption in Washington.

Before Bresnahan faces the music tonight, catch up quick on some of the many headlines he will be forced to answer for this evening.

DCCC Spokesperson Eli Cousin:
“Rob Bresnahan’s endless corruption will be on full display at tonight’s debate. It has defined his time in Washington and will be the reason he loses in five days.”

CATCH UP QUICK

In April 2025, Rob Bresnahan made national news for becoming “one of the most active stock traders” in Congress despite campaigning on a pledge to ban it entirely.

In June 2025, Bresnahan traded a flurry of stocks around the same time that major global tariffs were announced – which have raised prices for Northeastern Pennsylvanians.
In July 2025, WVIA reported Bresnahan was refusing to stop his stock trading because he didn’t want to “lose money and go broke.”
In August 2025, WNEP reported that Bresnahan was facing “scrutiny” for his stock trading and his vote to gut health care.
Also in August, Republican strategists said Bresnahan was “throwing away his seat” by making more than $7 million worth of stock trades in Congress.

In November 2025, NBC News reported that Bresnahan had dumped up to $130,000 worth of stocks in Medicaid providers just days before voting to gut Medicaid.
In January 2026, Bresnahan made national news after he “bought stock in a major supplier for data centers that subsequently boomed in value — at the same time he was encouraging data centers to be built in his Pennsylvania district.”
In March 2026, Bresnahan made national news after uncovered audio revealed that he confessed to speaking directly with his financial advisor about his upcoming stock positions, revealing he had been lying for months when insisting he had no input on his stock trades.
In September 2026, Bresnahan made more national headlines for owning millions of dollars worth of stock in data center companies as he pushed for them to be built in NEPA.

There are many, many more headlines outlining Bresnahan’s record of corruption. Nothing Bresnahan says tonight will explain them away.
