| Kevin Kiley is scrambling to sell himself as an ‘independent voice’ to Sacramento voters, but his extreme MAGA roots are still clear as day.
In a scathing interview with Zeteo, Kiley was repeatedly fact-checked as he tried to hide his Republican ties:
KILEY’S CLAIM: “You can look at my voting record, where I have disagreed with the majority of Republicans on any number of issues so far.”
MEHDI HASAN: “The Center for American Progress did a study of members of Congress…of votes taken with the 119th Congress up to August 2025…They say you voted with Trump 41 out of 42 times during that period, which is a 98% pro-Trump voting record.”
KILEY’S CLAIM: “I made the decision to be an Independent and to run to represent my hometown.”
HASAN: “…You [took] over $155,000 in PAC money from Speaker Mike Johnson’s Grow the Majority GOP fundraising committee after you announced you were leaving the party. That doesn’t sound very Independent.”
KILEY’S CLAIM: “I’ve been very clear that I oppose anyone who is pushing [gerrymandering], whether that’s the administration, whether that’s California.”
HASAN: “You’ve tweeted about redistricting and gerrymandering over 100 times in the past year. But 85% of those tweets were about…Proposition 50. Not one of those 104 tweets mentioned Donald Trump by name, the man who started all of this.”
KILEY: “I believe Joe Biden won the 2020 election…I’ve said [this] from the moment that I was ever asked about this.”
HASAN: “That’s not what you said. We checked…You were asked in August 2021 by the LA Times if you believe…that the 2020 election was stolen, you were asked the same question by the Sacramento Bee in March 2022. You were asked it again for a third time by KCRA 3 and Cap Radio in June 2022. On each and every occasion, you refused to answer the question.”
The bottom line: Kevin Kiley is still a MAGA champion through and through.
