Today, Inside Elections announced that it is shifting its predictions for Tennessee’s 5th Congressional District towards Democrats.
This announcement follows Republicans’ embarrassing underperformance in the state on Tuesday, having spent $3.3 million in a district Trump won by 22 points only to underperform their 2024 margin by 13 points.
The announcement also comes as Republicans are publicly agonizing about Andy Ogles’ anemic fundraising – Ogles raised only $57,916 last quarter and his campaign is in over $70,000 ofdebt. Ogles has also established a Legal Expense Fund Trust in an attempt to raise money to pay more than $120,000 to lawyers working on both aHouse Ethics investigationand afederal criminal investigationinto him.
DCCC Spokesperson Madison Andrus: “Andy Ogles spends more time ranting and raving on Twitter than he does working for his district. Ogles has abandoned Tennessee’s working families, farmers, and rural communities. It’s no surprise that Republican donors are already abandoning ship. Come next November, Tennesseans are going to send Andy Ogles packing.”
