🚨 RATINGS CHANGE: Center for Politics Report Shifts CA-22 in Democrats’ Direction 🚨

“David Valadao…is now an underdog”

Center for Politics just shifted California’s 22nd Congressional District toward Democrats’ direction in just the latest sign that sell-out David Valadao is more vulnerable than ever.

Center for Politics writes in part:

  • Rep. David Valadao…historically an impressive electoral performer, finished on the wrong end of a lopsided 59%-41% Democratic edge in his district, a large enough deficit that he is now an underdog in our ratings.
  • …When the combined Democratic two-party vote in a U.S. House district is 50% or better, Democrats win the seat: in seven cycles of California top-two results…there are no exceptions to that rule.
  • The most notable result was in the Central Valley’s CA-22… That district remained a Toss-up in our ratings… but that rating is harder to defend given the huge Democratic edge in the two-party vote in the district: two Democrats combined for 59.3% of the vote compared to just 40.7% for Valadao, who had no Republican opponent.
  • We were shocked at how lopsided this vote was…
  • …Villegas starts with an edge. So we’re moving CA-22 from Toss-up to Leans Democratic.

This comes as no surprise after Valadao has foolishly stood by his unpopular record of kicking his constituents off their health care – one of the most dependent on Medicaid in the whole country. The Center for Politics notes that “healthcare was also a major issue in Valadao’s 2018 race, his lone loss.”

DCCC Spokesperson Anna Elsasser:
“David Valadao has turned his back on the Valley one too many times – from ripping away health care, to stealing food off the tables of working families, to breaking his promises to make life more affordable. Valadao is officially facing the race of his career thanks to his disastrous sell-out record, and Valley voters are more ready than ever to hold him accountable and elect Randy Villegas this November.”
