🚨 RATINGS CHANGE: Cook Political Report Becomes 3rd Race Rater to Shift OH-07 in Democrats’ Direction

Cook Political Report, Inside Elections, and Larry Sabato’s Crystal Ball have all moved the race toward Democrats in past 2 months

The nonpartisan Cook Political Report just shifted Ohio’s 7th District in Democrats’ direction, the third major race rater in two months to move this seat to the leftLarry Sabato’s Crystal Ball made the same call last month, and Inside Elections followed last week.

With three independent forecasters reaching the same conclusion in the span of two months, the message is clear: Max Miller is in serious trouble.

In part, Cook writes that while “Republicans have mostly played offense in Ohio in recent years,[…]  it looks like they’ll need to play some defense [in Ohio’s 7th Congressional District]” – with Miller winning reelection by just 51% in 2024.

Cook notes that seats like this one “have the potential to become competitive in a cycle as daunting for the GOP as 2026 is shaping up to be, and Republicans can no longer take them for granted.”

All three race rating changes come as Miller has been “dogged by multiple allegations of domestic abuse from his ex-girlfriend, former White House Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham, and his ex-wife, Emily Moreno.”

DCCC Spokesperson Riya Vashi:
“Alarm bells should be ringing for Max Miller. After siding against Northeast Ohioans at every opportunity, Miller is more vulnerable than ever because hardworking families are ready for true leadership who puts them first.”
