| Today, non-partisan race rater Cook Political Report shifted its prediction for Nevada’s 2nd Congressional District towards Democrats — the latest sign that Nevadans are tired of being left behind by House Republicans.
Cook writes in part that “A district that Trump won by double digits in both 2020 and 2024 should not be competitive. But Republicans’ polarizing nominee, David Flippo, has given Democrats an outside chance at flipping this seat,” adding that “Flippo has struggled to consolidate support among Republican voters… Retiring Rep. Mark Amodei has also been blunt about his animosity toward Flippo, who moved from Las Vegas to Reno shortly before launching his campaign for his seat.”
REMINDER: The ratings change comes on the heels of Sabato’s Crystal Ball also shifting their rating for NV-02 towards Democrats. It also follows bombshell reporting that David Flippo repeatedly lied about his military service and that he has likely violated federal transparency law.
