🚨 RATINGS CHANGE: Cook Political Report Shifts NV-02 Towards Democrats as David Flippo Continues to Flop

Non-partisan race-rater Cook Political Report just shifted their prediction for Nevada’s Second District in Democrats’ direction — the latest sign that Teresa Benitez-Thompson will take down scandal-plagued David Flippo in November.

Cook writes in part:

  • Republican nominee David Flippo has given Democrats an increasingly clear shot at flipping this seat, which shouldn’t be particularly competitive even in a good year for Democrats. (Trump won the seat by 14 points in 2024, and Republicans’ Senate and gubernatorial nominees carried the district by double-digits in 2018).
  • But allegations of stolen valor against Flippo, an Air Force veteran, as well as questions about his finances have given Democrats an easy line of attack against the Republican.
  • Retiring Rep. Mark Amodei — who has represented this district for 15 years and is known as one of the more candid members of Congress — has derided Flippo as a fraud, and much of the local Republican establishment has also been hesitant to support the nominee.

The ratings change comes as Flippo consistently finds himself embroiled in new scandals, while Benitez-Thompson makes it clear she’s ready to fight against the very corruption Flippo embodies.

DCCC Spokesperson Lindsay Reilly:
“David Flippo is digging himself into a hole, and Nevadans aren’t going to help him get out. While Flippo continues running a shady campaign, Teresa Benitez-Thomoson is fighting to make Washington work for Nevadans — that’s why voters will send her to Congress in November.”
