🚨 RATINGS CHANGE: Cook Political Report Shifts NY-17 To “Toss-Up” Race

Cook Political Report just shifted New York’s 17th District in Democrats’ direction from “Lean Republican” to “Toss-Up” in just the latest sign that Republican Mike Lawler is more vulnerable than ever.

This rating change comes just months after New York’s massive Democratic surge during the 2025 elections, when “Democrats posted electoral gains that rival — and in many cases surpass — the party’s 2017 ‘Blue Wave.’”
Lawler’s extreme and unpopular record has made him the subject of repeated protests, and NY-17 constituents are fed up with him prioritizing MAGA DC Politicians over their communities.

This shift comes as no surprise after Mike Lawler has foolishly stood by his unpopular record of kicking his constituents off their health care and causing skyrocketing premiums, ripping food off the tables of working families, and making life more expensive for New Yorkers – all so he can give Republicans’ billionaire donors more tax breaks.
