| Sabato’s Crystal Ball shifted Florida’s 14th Congressional District in Democrats’ direction as Kathy Castor builds momentum to keep her district blue.
The ratings come as the latest sign that Castor is in a toss-up race, keeping her seat competitive despite Republicans’ attempts to rig the maps in their favor.
But Republicans can’t erase Castor’s enduring strength with voters. Crystal Ball notes that due to her high name recognition and long record of delivering for the Tampa Bay area “Castor [is] leading a pair of potential Republican rivals by high single digits.” As Florida families continue to sour on the Republican agenda of rising costs and gutting health care, this race is moving in Democrats’ direction.
DCCC Spokesperson Anna Elsasser:
“Kathy Castor has never backed down from a tough fight and this is the latest proof that Republicans have a real problem in FL-14. While Republicans play politics, Kathy delivers for Tampa Bay – lowering costs, protecting veterans’ benefits, and bringing critical federal investments home. Voters know Kathy fights for them and gets results, and that’s why they’ll reelect her once again in November.” |
