| Ann Wagner is in serious trouble.Â
Today, Sabato’s Crystal Ball moved Missouri’s 2nd Congressional District to a Toss-Up, making clear that a seat Republicans have held for a generation is in play. After 13 years of putting Wall Street billionaires first, Republican incumbent Ann Wagner is finding out that voters were paying attention.
Ann Wagner was a chief architect of the disastrous “One Big Ugly Bill” that cut Medicaid for Missouri families to fund permanent tax breaks for her billionaire backers. While families in Wagner’s district pay more for groceries, health care, and gas thanks to her votes, Wagner’s estimated net worth has climbed past $26 million during her time in office.
Fred Wellman, a 22-year Army veteran, has Wagner on defense. Last week, an Emerson poll found Wellman running ahead of Wagner by 5 points. With one week to go, the momentum is on his side.
DCCC Spokesperson Nebeyatt Betre:
“Ann Wagner spent 13 years in Washington looking out for Wall Street billionaires and herself, and now she’s about to lose her job for it. Missouri families can’t afford another term of Ann Wagner cutting their health care to pay for tax breaks for her billionaire friends. This seat is in play.”
