100 Hours Later, Barbara Comstock Still Hasn’t Disclosed Her Clients

It’s been more than 100 hours since Barbara Comstock claimed she would reveal her clients after being caught by the Washington Post  in an apparent “breach of congressional ethics rules” by failing to disclose at least $85,000 worth of work for the Romney-Ryan Presidential Campaign and the Republican National Committee – but Comstock still has not made an updated financial disclosure form publicly available.

On Saturday, Comstock’s campaign claimed they were working “quickly” to file an updated report, but as of Wednesday morning, no report had been filed with the Clerk of the House. Yesterday, protesters attempted to greet Comstock outside a fundraiser she held with Congressman Paul Ryan, demanding to know what else Comstock is hiding.

“It was hard to believe that a professional political operative like Barbara Comstock would simply forget to report $85,000 on her federal reports – but after 100 hours have passed, it’s clear she’s just trying to cover up her potential conflicts of interest,” said David Bergstein of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. “Comstock was already pushing a right-wing agenda that’s out of touch with Northern Virginia – but now she’s hiding all the other shadowy interests that are paying her to be their advocate in Richmond.”
