13News Now Verifies That Jen Kiggans Cut Veterans’ Health Care

A recent TV ad fact check from 13News Now verified the claim that Congresswoman Jen Kiggans has voted to cut health care for veterans.

The fact check stated in part:

It is true that Kiggans voted along party lines in favor of the Trump administration’s budget bill […] The bill faced criticism for including deep cuts to Medicaid, which fills the insurance gap for some veterans who rely on it.”

Read and watch the fact check for yourself:

REMINDER: Kiggans lied when she promised to protect Medicaid, but then “folded” and cast a decisive vote for the largest cuts to Medicaid in history. According to nonpartisan outlet KFF, “Medicaid currently provides health care coverage to 1 in 10 veterans (1.6 million people).” Additionally, Kiggans lied when she said she would extend the ACA tax credits but then voted to let them expire, which has resulted in health insurance enrollment dropping by more than 44,000 people in Virginia as costs skyrocket.

DCCC Spokesperson Eli Cousin:
“Congresswoman Jen Kiggans promised to protect our veterans but turned her back on them when she voted to gut health care and jack up costs. Virginia veterans deserve so much better.”
