5 Days, 5 Questions Still Unanswered by Carl DeMaio’s Campaign: Campaign Manager’s Belated Polygraph Test

Carl DeMaio’s response to mounting questions about serious sexual harassment allegations regarding a former campaign staffer is only raising more concerns. So for five days, as San Diegans continue to grapple with another Bob Filner-esque scandal, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee is highlighting the top five questions Carl DeMaio has left unanswered.

Following the release of DeMaio’s accuser’s successful polygraph test, DeMaio campaign manager Tommy Knepper – currently under fire for saying being black was a “red flag” for campaign staff – conveniently claimed he passed his own polygraph test in August.

Today’s Question: If the sexual harassment allegations were made in May, why did Carl DeMaio’s campaign manager wait three months to take a polygraph test?

In case you missed it, here are the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd questions still unanswered by Carl DeMaio’s campaign

From Tyrone Gayle, DCCC: “Carl DeMaio’s embattled campaign manager knew about the harassment allegations in May, and yet he allowed months to go by before he voluntarily took a polygraph test – and rather than answering questions, he’s only raised more.”

BACKGROUND:

Bosnich Told CM about DeMaio’s Behavior, CM Told Bosnich that he Should not have Told DeMaio Bosnich was Gay. “When Bosnich complained about DeMaio’s alleged behavior to the candidate’s campaign manager, the response was that he shouldn’t have told DeMaio he was gay, Bosnich alleged in the radio interview.” [POLITICO, 10/08/14]

May 18, 2014: Bosnich was Allegedly Offered $50,000 Nondisclosure Agreement by Campaign Manager. “The next day, Bosnich said, the campaign manager called him into his office and told him that DeMaio had lost his trust in him. He also said he was offered him $50,000 to sign a nondisclosure agreement. He said he rejected the offer.” [POLITICO, 10/08/14]

August 2014: DeMaio’s Campaign Manager Said he Took, and Passed, Lie Detector Administered by Police. “Late Friday afternoon, DeMaio campaign manager Tommy Knepper told U-T San Diego that he too has passed a polygraph exam related to the harassment and claim that from Bosnich that DeMaio tried to bribe him to keep quiet. ‘In August, I voluntarily took a polygraph exam administered by the San Diego Police Department as part of their thorough investigation into this matter,’ Knepper said. ‘The test showed I was truthful in denying Mr. Bosnich’s claims of sexual harassment by Carl DeMaio and bribery by the campaign.’” [Union-Tribune, 10/10/14]
