Today, failed candidate Esther Joy King will announce her second misguided campaign to represent Illinois’ 17th Congressional district. And just like the first time, King will have to explain to voters why she’d rather side with Kevin McCarthy and Washington Republicans’ disastrous agenda of lining the pockets of the 1% while leaving workers behind.
Here are the questions King must answer:
- Would King have voted with every DC Republican *against* economic relief, putting $1,400 in millions of Illinoisans’ pockets, accelerating vaccinations, and putting children safely back in school?
- Why hasn’t King admitted Joe Biden won the 2020 election?
- Would King have sided with Kevin McCarthy and party leaders to block the 1/6 Commission to investigate the insurrection on the U.S. Capitol which cost the lives of multiple people including Capitol police?
- Will King condemn House Republicans’ far-right extremism, including embracing multiple open followers of Q-Anon conspiracy theories?
- Did King move to Illinois’ 17th Congressional district from Chicago just to run for Congress?
“Esther Joy King is the hand-picked candidate of extremist far-right Washington Republicans who don’t represent Northwestern Illinois values – so it’s no surprise she cannot be trusted to fight for small businesses, create good-paying jobs, or protect affordable health care,” said DCCC spokesperson Elena Kuhn. “Illinoisans already rejected failed candidate Esther Joy King and her toxic, out-of-touch agenda once and they’ll do so again come November 2022.”
