Failed Candidate Eric Esshaki just announced his second bid for Congress. And if Esshaki’s latest misguided campaign is anything like the last, his prospects are already doomed.
Last cycle, Esshaki ran on taking away Michiganders’ health care and siding with the corporations and the wealthiest one percent to push a tax giveaway paid for by working families. Now, as he launches his second disastrous campaign, here are the questions he must answer:
-
Does Esshaki agree with Trump that there was voter fraud “beyond what anyone can believe” in Michigan in 2020?
-
Would Esshaki have fallen in line with Kevin McCarthy and party leaders to block the 1/6 Commission to investigate the deadly insurrection on the U.S. Capitol which cost the lives of multiple people including Capitol Police?
-
Would Esshaki have sided with Washington Republicans against a middle-class tax cut for thousands of Michiganders?
-
Does Esshaki support the Bipartisan Infrastructure Deal to fix Michigan’s roads and bridges and create local jobs?
-
Will Esshaki condemn House Republicans’ far-right extremism, including embracing multiple open followers of QAnon conspiracy theories and insurrectionists who are responsible for attacking our democracy?
“Eric Esshaki has already proved he’d be a rubber stamp for Washington Republicans, even when it’s wrong from Michigan families and small businesses,” said DCCC spokesperson Elena Kuhn. “From promising to ‘fully repeal’ the law that protects health insurance coverage for Michiganders with pre-existing conditions, to refusing to concede his 2020 election loss while lending credence to baseless claims of voting irregularities — it’s clear Esshaki is out of touch with Michiganders and his second campaign will end the same way as his first.”
