Sunday marks 50 years since the Supreme Court’s Roe decision guaranteed women had the right to reproductive freedom and abortion health care. However, Americans will not be celebrating this year because just 7 months ago, the Republican appointed Supreme Court overturned Roe and restricted women’s bodily autonomy.
Brian Fitzpatrick shares the blame for the overturning of Roe, and unfazed by the consequences of Republicans’ war on women, Fitzpatrick wants to further limit reproductive freedom.
In 2017, Fitzpatrick voted against an amendment to a nationwide abortion ban that would allow for exceptions if the health of the mother was at risk.
In 2017, Fitzpatrick voted to impose criminal penalties on doctors who perform abortions on rape and incest victims without law enforcement approval.
Fitzpatrick voted against consideration of the Women’s Health Protection Act (WHPA) which would have codified the reproductive freedoms Roe v. Wade guaranteed before the Supreme Court ripped them away. Fitzpatrick voted against the WHPA in the 117th Congress as well.
