50 Years Since Roe v. Wade, David Valadao Seeks to Further Restrict Reproductive Freedoms

Sunday marks 50 years since the Supreme Court’s Roe decision guaranteed women had the right to reproductive freedom and abortion health care. However, Americans will not be celebrating this year because just 7 months ago, the Republican appointed Supreme Court overturned Roe and restricted women’s bodily autonomy.

David Valadao shares the blame for the overturning of Roe, and unfazed by the consequences of Republicans’ war on women, Valadao wants to further limit reproductive freedom.

Reminder Valadao:

  • Signed an amicus brief urging the Supreme Court to overturn Roe.
  • Signed on to a national abortion ban that doesn’t offer exceptions for rape, incest, or the life of the woman, and more than 100 Republicans have signed on to another.

  • Voted against the Right to Contraception Act, to enshrine women’s and families’ right to access contraception into federal law.

  • Voted against the Women’s Health and Protection Act, which would codify Roe to protect a woman’s right to abortion.

  • Voted against the Ensuring Access to Abortion Act, which would safeguard a woman’s right to travel to another state to receive an abortion if their state bans the medical procedure. This bill would stop states from putting a bounty on the heads of women, families and doctors who assist in obtaining an abortion.

  • And in just the first three weeks of the 118th Congress, Valadao has already voted for anti-choice legislation that would limit health care access and potentially imprison doctors.

DCCC spokesperson Tommy Garcia:
“As Americans grapple with a less free world that Republicans made by ripping away reproductive freedom, David Valadao is working to make it worse. Instead of working to restore the freedom Roe once guaranteed, Valadao is actively working with his fellow MAGA House Republicans to ban abortion nationwide.”
