Ahead of Sean Parnell’s speech before the Republican National Convention tonight – his latest quest for national stardom (it’s why he’s running for Congress, after all) – here’s what you need to know about this wannabee national personality.
- BREAKING: Parnell has complained that veterans feel an “unhealthy entitlement” after serving their country in uniform.
- Parnell recently came under fire after less than one-year-old comments were reported by the Pittsburgh City Paper in which he criticizes women for their financial success and yearns for a time when “women were attracted to your strength because you could defend them from dinosaurs.”
- Parnell called the Affordable Care Act an “absolute, unabashed, catastrophically expensive train wreck.”If Parnell has his way and the ACA is repealed, 48,000 Pennsylvanians in the 17th District would be at risk of losing their health care coverage.
- Before launching his congressional bid, Parnell was a frequent guest on Fox & Friends. He even announced his campaign for Pennsylvania’s 17th District on the show.
- Parnell is banking his campaign on divisive cultural issues and explosive rhetoric, not the kitchen table issues that matter to Southwest Pennsylvanians.
- Parnell just moved to PA-17 earlier this year – months after he launched his candidacy.
“Sean Parnell’s record makes one thing clear: he isn’t interested in fighting for folks in Southwestern Pennsylvania, but that won’t stop him from chasing national Republican stardom,” said DCCC Spokesperson Courtney Rice.
