Coffman Brings Trump’s “Middle-Class Nightmare Tax Bill” to Colorado

Vulnerable Rep. Mike Coffman will be in Centennial today trying to sell voters on his deeply unpopular GOP Tax Scam that benefits his ultra-wealthy donors (and Coffman’s colleagues) at the expense of the middle class. Coffman, who is President Trump’s most loyal supporter in the Colorado delegation, voted for the GOP Tax Scam that raises healthcare costs on middle class Coloradans and jeopardizes Social Security and Medicare in order to give tax cuts to his corporate donors.

“Mike Coffman’s talked a big game of standing up to Trump, but his vote for the GOP Tax Scam represents the ultimate betrayal of middle class Coloradans. While Mike Coffman is doing the bidding of President Trump and his donors, he’s being rewarded with their campaign cash at the expense of hardworking Coloradans.” – DCCC Spokesperson Rachel Irwin

“Congressman Mike Coffman vote […] in support of the House tax reform bill abruptly ends cultivated perceptions that he is a fiscal conservative or a politically moderate champion of the middle class.”

Denver Post Editorial: Colorado lawmakers should oppose the dismal Trump tax plan

“The last-minute decision to reduce the tax rate for the highest earners gives the impression that the plan is mostly a sham meant to give a Christmas gift to GOP donors.”

Newsweek: Republican tax plan will make health insurance more expensive

“The final GOP plan will repeal the Affordable Care Act’s individual insurance mandate, which would allow young and healthy people to leave the insurance pool, forcing insurers to compensate by raising prices due to the higher costs of insuring only less-healthy people. Not only would premiums likely rise, but many insurers could drop out of regional markets.”

The Hill: GOP tax law will add $1.9 trillion to debt: CBO

“The GOP’s signature tax law is projected to increase the national debt by $1.9 trillion between 2018 and 2028, according to a new report by the Congressional Budget Office (CBO).”

U.S. News: After tax overhaul, GOP sets sights on Medicare, Social Security

“There’s concern among Democrats that GOP lawmakers could turn around after the expected passage of their tax bill – which by nonpartisan estimates is expected to add more than $1 trillion to America’s debt burden over the next 10 years – and demand massive cuts to government spending on social programs they have long opposed in the wake of mounting deficits. Those fears appear to be well-founded, as a stable of Republicans have come out in recent days advocating for some sort of spending overhaul. House Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wis., told radio host Ross Kaminsky on Wednesday that he and his colleagues will ‘have to get back next year at entitlement reform, which is how you tackle the debt and the deficit.’”

NBC News: What did corporate America do with that tax break? Buy record amounts of its own stock
