Achadjian and Fareed Give Thumbs Up to Planned Parenthood Witch-Hunt, Kokkonen Would Criminalize Abortion
On Saturday Katcho Achadjian and Justin Fareed, Republicans running in California’s 24th Congressional District, gave the thumbs up to Congress’ ongoing witch-hunt of Planned Parenthood. Both agreed they would vote to continue funding the Select Committee to Attack Women’s Health, originally given $300,000 in taxpayer money. While other far-right candidate Matt Kokkonen wasn’t asked specifically about the committee Saturday, he previously said he would repeal Roe v. Wade and make abortion illegal.
Katcho Achadjian: “I do support continuing the investigation”
Justin Fareed: “It’s necessary that we have an investigation”
Inexplicably, part of Fareed’s rationale was concern over wasting taxpayer money. Fareed said he wants to “ensure where we’re sending taxpayer dollars is a good investment and actually yields a return for taxpayers.”
“It’s no surprise that Republican candidates Achadjian and Fareed would vote to continue the House Republican’s Planned Parenthood so-called investigation, putting themselves in the same extreme category as Kokkonen, who would criminalize abortion,” said Barb Solish of the DCCC. “The Central Coast deserves a representative who will stand up for women, not waste taxpayer money on political witch-hunts.”
