“Ad Is Accurate”: Fact Check Confirms Ralph Alvarado Stood By Disgraced Former Governor Matt Bevin and His Attacks on Medicaid

Alvarado repeatedly endorsed Bevin’s move to kick 95,000 Kentuckians off their health care

A new fact check from the Lexington Herald Leader confirms that Ralph Alvarado “stood by” disgraced former governor Matt Bevin as he slashed health care for Kentucky families.

According to the Lexington Herald Leader, “It’s true Bevin wanted the state of Kentucky to spend less money on Medicaid… And it’s true he generally had a legislative ally in Alvarado, who showed his support for the governor by agreeing to be his running mate in 2019 and campaigning for Bevin to get four more years.”

As a member of the state Senate Health and Welfare Committee, Alvarado “praised Bevin’s efforts” as “critics warned [they] would cut healthcare coverage for an estimated 95,000 low-income Kentuckians.”

DCCC Spokesperson Eli Cousin:
“Ralph Alvarado ran as Matt Bevin’s running mate, supported his attacks on seniors and Kentucky families, and was nowhere to be found when he pardoned a convicted child rapist. Kentuckians can’t afford Bevin’s right-hand man Ralph Alvarado in Congress.”
