Adam Gray Announces Re-Election Campaign Focused on Delivering Results for the Central Valley

Gray focuses re-election announcement on lowering costs, supporting farmers, and strengthening the Valley’s water supply

Last week, Congressman Adam Gray announced his run for re-election to serve the people of California’s 13th Congressional District, ensuring voters hear about his track record of delivering bipartisan results and serving as an independent voice for the Central Valley.

I made a commitment to go to Washington to work on issues that are important for our district… I think Washington needs a lot more of that.” – Rep. Gray

Gray’s race was the closest House race in the country in 2024, decided by just 187 votes. He ultimately won in a Trump +5 district.

Here’s what he had to say:

  • Adam Gray…whose 2024 victory in the 13th Congressional District came via the slimmest margin of any race in the nation, has officially kicked off his bid for a second term.
  • “I certainly think my Republican opponents have a lot to explain as to why they support the path this administration is on, which is leading to inflation and high prices and a lack of affordability.”
  • “…You’ve got to approach every campaign like [you’re] 10 points behind and work your tail off…Whether you’ve been in office two years or 10 years, you can’t take any voter for granted.”
  • Gray said he sought to [enter] Congress…to help fix what he called a broken political system, and that he’s proud of what he’s accomplished in his first 16 months on the Hill.
  • “…I made a commitment to go to Washington to work on issues that are important for our district, like making sure our farmers have the resources and the water to continue to lead the world in that space…I want to remain focused on making life more affordable…”
  • “I’m proud of the work I’ve done, reaching across the aisle at a time when it’s as difficult as it is. I’ve got one of the most bipartisan voting records in Congress…”
  • I’m also proud that I voted against the president’s big stupid bill, and I’ve voted to hold the line when Republicans are doing things that are making the cost of health care, energy and groceries more expensive. I think Washington needs a lot more of that.”

  • “There are many districts across the country that are so heavily Democratic or Republican that they don’t talk to the other side. That’s a stark contrast with my service.”
  • “Where it’s appropriate, I work across the aisle. Where we gotta stand up for the Central Valley against things that the Republicans or this Republican president are doing…things like tariffs that have driven up the cost of food…I’m going to call to question.”
  • Something that’s defined my career, Whether it’s a Democrat or Republican, when I think they’re wrong, I say so.”
  • “…We’ve had far too much partisanship in Washington DC across politics across the country…start voting for and supporting people that are actually willing to work across the aisle, sit down, question people’s ideas – not their character – and move our country forward together.”

  • “We deserve a Congress that works as hard as we do…There’s some real poor decisions being made in Congress, and we need folks who will stand up and say that whether the person’s in their party or not.”
  • In 2024, the District 13 race was the narrowest in the nation and the last to get called…Gray says his record reflects the district he represents…He says he’s focused on bipartisan issues…
  • “I opposed the president’s bill which massively cut health care… that [made] devastating cuts to the Medi-Cal program which serves almost two-thirds of my Congressional district. [Those are] families impacted right here in the Central Valley.”

  • [Gray] says he wants to continue looking for bipartisan solutions, working on health care and education and finding solutions around water infrastructure in California.
  • “I’ve co-authored and cosponsored dozens of…bills [with my Republican colleagues]. I’m a willing partner but we gotta sit down and talk through the solutions.”
