Last week, longtime Brownback advisor and GOP candidate Amanda Adkins finally shared her plan if elected, endorsing a disastrous budget proposed by Republicans in Congress earlier this year.
The full plan is 122 pages long, so each day this week will be a closer look at one of the toxic policies that Adkins “absolutely” supports—and what it means for the people she wants to represent.
Adkins’ New “Plan” Step One: Cut Medicare and Social Security
-
Adkins’ plan would raise the retirement age to 69 and raise the eligibility age for Medicare, forcing over 2 million Kansans to work longer for their hard-earned benefits.
-
It would cut $2.8 trillion from Medicare projections and $729 billion from Social Security.
-
The plan would also slash cost-of-living adjustments and reduce benefits to seniors right when they need them most.
-
It would end Medicare as we know it, potentially resulting in huge out-of-pocket costs for seniors.
DCCC Spokesperson Johanna Warshaw
“Kansans work long and hard to access their earned benefits, but that doesn’t seem to mean anything to Amanda Adkins, who just backed a plan to gut Social Security and Medicare. It’s simple: Amanda Adkins cannot be trusted with Kansans’ hard earned benefits.”
