Adkins’ New “Plan” Step Three: Gut Education and Early Childhood Programs

Last week, longtime Brownback advisor and GOP candidate Amanda Adkins finally shared her plan if elected, endorsing a disastrous budget proposed by Republicans in Congress earlier this year.

Adkins continues her record from Governor Sam Brownback’s administration, where she was appointed to chair his Children’s Cabinet only to oversee pre-K funding slashed by 75 percent. Now, she has endorsed a budget that completely eliminates funding for early childhood programs like Head Start.

Adkins’ New “Plan” Step Three: Gut Education and Early Childhood Programs

  • The plan completely eliminates Head Start, proven effective early childhood programs that help thousands of Kansas children and their families access child care and education.

  • It also slashes funding for CHIP, a program more than 68,000 Kansas families rely on to cover their child’s dental and medical care.

DCCC Spokesperson Johanna Warshaw
“As a key advisor to Sam Brownback, Amanda Adkins spent her career working to execute his disastrous agenda that slashed funding for Kansas’ education system and resulted in teacher layoffs. Now, she’s backing an extreme plan to eliminate early childhood education altogether and put kids’ medical care at risk. This November, Kansas voters will send a definitive message against Adkins’ anti-education crusade.”
