Affordable Health Care Access for Latinos Eliminated Thanks to the Republican Assault on Working Families

Millions of Americans will almost certainly lose their health insurance coverage, disproportionately harming the Latino community”

House Republicans are entering their sixth week of vacation after shutting down the government and leaving Americans to face skyrocketing costs for their health care premiums as they refuse to extend tax credits for the Affordable Care Act (ACA).

Since its passage, the ACA has increased health care coverage for millions of Latinos — protecting individuals from discrimination based on preexisting conditions and gender while providing preventative care.

As Republicans refuse to negotiate and keep health care access affordable, Latinos will be disproportionately affected when they are unable to afford their coverage or lose access.

DCCC Spokesperson Bridget Gonzalez:
“House Republicans have made it perfectly clear that they do not care about doing their job to protect Americans. Millions of people, with Latinos among the hardest hit, will suffer as they lose their health care due to the Republican shutdown. Republicans are on a taxpayer-funded vacation while families struggle to make ends meet and keep their health care.
