After Gutting Medicaid and Stock Trading Off His Vote, Rob Bresnahan Confesses His Cuts Are a Disaster For NEPA

Medicaid cuts that Bresnahan voted for will eliminate health care for cancer patients, medical groups warn

Corrupt Congressman Rob Bresnahan is gaslighting the people of NEPA.

After voting for the largest cuts to Medicaid in history – and even stock trading off of his cruel vote – Congressman Bresnahan is now admitting that he is responsible for potentially ripping health care away from cancer patients.

NPR reports on a new rule that was born out of Bresnahan’s health care cuts:

“Medical groups and advocates for patients uniformly panned the rule. A coalition of 48 patient organizations wrote in a joint statement: ‘Our organizations are deeply concerned the interim final rule does not protect people with serious or complex health conditions and would instead dramatically and inappropriately increase the number of people who will lose their healthcare coverage.’

REMINDER: Bresnahan insisted that he would not vote to cut Medicaid and strip health care access from his own constituents, but then turned around and voted for the largest cuts to Medicaid in history. His vote is particularly devastating to Northeastern Pennsylvania, where more than 30 percent of his district relies on Medicaid to receive health care. In addition to voting for the cruel cuts, Bresnahan then dumped Medicaid-provider stocks and Pennsylvania hospitals bonds right around the time of his vote.

DCCC Spokesperson Eli Cousin:
“Rob Bresnahan is one of the most corrupt and sinister members in all of Congress, and that’s saying something. After voting for devastating health care cuts and stock trading off of his cruel vote, Bresnahan now wants to try and gaslight Northeastern Pennsylvanians by pretending as if he isn’t responsible for his own actions. Bresnahan’s record is clear: He unleashed a health care crisis on NEPA, and voters will hold him accountable for his real record in November.”
