Far-right Republicans Kevin Coughlin and Chris Banweg continue to double down on their out-of-touch, aggressive anti-abortion stances, despite Ohioans “resoundingly” protecting reproductive rights in the state’s constitution last November.
In a district that upheld reproductive freedom by a 24-point margin, Coughlin has touted co-sponsoring or voting “for every allowable Roe v. Wade state restriction,” claiming Ohioans “do not understand” the issue. Last night he even held a fundraiser with the author of Ohio’s six-week abortion ban that voters overwhelmingly rejected at the ballot box.
This week both candidates were endorsed by an extreme anti-abortion organization and received “A” ratings from Ohio Advocates for Medical Freedom, a radical anti-vax group that opposed and spread misinformation about Issue 1.
DCCC Spokesperson Aidan Johnson:
“Kevin Coughlin and Chris Banweg have made it clear that they’ll reject the will of the people and instead rubber stamp MAGA Republicans’ anti-abortion agenda. Ohio voters will reject these out-of-touch extremists next November.” |
