After Keeping Truth Hidden for Weeks, Mazi Pilip Comes Clean on Her Support of Trump

In an interview that ran in the New York Post over the weekend, Mazi Pilip finally revealed that she voted for Donald Trump in 2020.

For weeks, Pilip has kept her vote hidden:

  • Newsday: Asked whether she voted that year for Trump or President Joe Biden, she bristled: “Why will I answer something like this?” Asked directly if she voted for Trump, she replied: “It’s a personal question.”

  • CNN: Yet while Pilip says she’d back Trump if he’s the nominee, she refused to say whether she voted for him in 2016 or 2020. “It happened three years ago,” Pilip said. “I wasn’t even an elected official.”

  • Spectrum News: One area where [Pilip] is not willing to be so transparent, though, is her voting history. She declined to say whether she voted for Trump or Biden in 2020, calling voting a private act and saying she is focused on the future.

Throughout the special election in New York’s Third District, Pilip has tried repeatedly to hide her true positions from voters.

She tried to pretend that she would not be a threat to abortion rights, but now it’s clear she’s anti-choice. She praised the Dobbs decision and said she wouldn’t codify Roe v. Wade.

She tried to pretend she supported gun safety, but then we learned she refuses to commit to backing an assault weapons ban — legislation that even Republican Peter King supported.

DCCC Spokesperson Ellie Dougherty:
“It’s clear why Mazi Pilip’s Republican party bosses have kept her so under wraps. Pilip is finally telling the truth and the full picture is painting her as unprepared, unvetted, and too extreme to represent the people of Nassau County and Queens.”
