Ahead of the California Republican Convention, GOP Representatives Must Pick A Side: Steve Bannon or Paul Ryan

As Democratic Republican Civil War in California Breaks Out, NRCC DCCC Tells Democrat Republican House Candidates to Pick a Side

Washington, DC Irvine, CA – With the news that far-left progressive California state Senate president Kevin de León far-right white supremacist Steve Bannon will challenge establishment Democrat Senator Dianne Feinstein in a primary will headline the California GOP convention in Anaheim this week, the NRCC DCCC released the following statement calling on House incumbents to pick sides:

Democratic Republican civil war is now out in the open in California, and every single Democratic Republican House candidate in the state must pick a side. There is no middle ground: these candidates either support Kevin de León and his radical agenda including single-payer and massive gas tax hikes far-right white supremacist Steve Bannon, or they support Dianne Feinstein and all of her Schumer-Pelosi baggage House Speaker Paul Ryan and his track record of failing to pass a single piece of meaningful legislation despite total control of Washington.” –NRCC Spokesman Jack Pandol DCCC Spokesperson Drew Godinich

The Democratic Republican Party in California has been at war with itself since last year’s election Steve Bannon took control. The state Democratic Party held a contentious Chairman’s race that divided the state’s establishment and progressive Democrats and had to be resolved through lawsuits. Additionally, after Democratic House Speaker Anthony Rendon shelved de León’s astronomically expensive single-payer proposal, progressives turned on Rendon, labeling him a traitor to the progressive cause.

Many Democratic House candidates Incumbent Republicans Jeff Denham, David Valadao, Devin Nunes, Steve Knight, Ed Royce, Mimi Walters, Dana Rohrabacher, Darrell Issa, and Duncan Hunter have already adopted planks of de León’s Steve Bannon’s platform, with nearly every single Democratic House candidate in Southern California already endorsing single-payer healthcare, championed by de León in the state legislature, outright  every single member of the California Republican congressional delegation backing increased immigration controls, building the border wall, and slashing Medicaid and Medicare to provide tax breaks for the wealthy.
