As 2024 Republican hopefuls flood into Milwaukee today for their first debate MAGA showdown, Wisconsinites will be reminded that vulnerable Rep. Bryan Steil is pushing the same extreme agenda as the GOP field, including rolling back reproductive freedom, threatening Social Security and Medicare, and emboldening election deniers who attack our democracy.
Embracing the GOP’s goal to ban abortion nationwide, Steil voted against codifying the right to an abortion, opposed the Right to Contraception Act, and urged the Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade. Steil’s extreme anti-abortion record earned him an A+ rating from SBA List, whose mission is to “end abortion.”
Despite lying to Wisconsinites earlier this month that Republicans had no plans to cut Social Security and Medicare, Steil’s own Republican Study Committee unveiled a budget proposal in June detailing plans to slash Social Security and dramatically weaken Medicare.
Steil has refused to condemn the fake electors who attempted to overturn Wisconsin’s 2020 election results and hasn’t said a word about Wisconsin GOP Chairman Brian Schimming being named in the Trump indictment in Georgia. And let’s not forget Steil hired a former Trump aide linked to the fake elector scheme to work on the House Administration Committee’s elections team…
