Alaska ACA Enrollment Drops by 11% After Nick Begich Blocks Relief

Affordable Care Act enrollment in Alaska has fallen 11% since last year – after Nick Begich voted to block bipartisan relief that would have “reverse[d] massive cost increases.” Alaskan families are now stuck facing steep sticker shock, or being priced out of their health care altogether.

For many Alaskans, losing subsidies meant premiums “doubling or tripling,” with costs skyrocketing by an estimated 346% on average statewide.

REMINDER: Begich cast the deciding vote on the largest cut to Medicaid in history – ripping away health care from over 35,000 Alaskans. Instead of taking responsibility, Begich continues to “blam[e] the Affordable Care Act for rising costs.”

DCCC Spokesperson Anna Elsasser:
“Alaskan families are being priced out of their health care because of Nick Begich’s cowardice. Alaskans deserve better than the damage Begich causes, and they will elect better leadership in November.”
