Alaskans Bracing for Higher Holiday Costs Thanks to Begich

As Alaskans head into the holidays, families are tightening their belts thanks to Nick Begich and the GOP’s reckless economic policies and costly tariffs that are driving up the cost of living – from groceries to gifts.

A recent NBC News poll shows a majority of Americans (55%) plan to spend less on holiday gifts this year because of rising costs. The economy remains a top concern for voters, and 1 in 3 expect their finances to get worse in 2026.

Axios reports that if the economy doesn’t take a turn, that could “spell trouble for President Trump and Republicans in the 2026 midterms.”

With health insurance premiums set to skyrocket because of Begich and House Republicans’ inaction on Affordable Care Act credits, inflation squeezing families, and a worsening job market, Republicans have every reason to worry.

Through it all, Begich has stayed silent as his party bosses dismiss affordability as “a hoax,” has embraced tariffs full on, and stuck Alaskans with the bill.

DCCC Spokesperson Anna Elsasser:
“Nick Begich had a choice: fight for working families, or fall in line with his party’s reckless agenda. He chose the party – and now Alaskans are paying the price at the checkout counter during the holidays.”
