As a second vote on the Big, Ugly Bill approaches in the House, Alaska’s Republican Senate Majority Leader Cathy Giessel slammed the GOP Tax Scam. This comes after Republican and Independent lawmakers of the Alaskan state legislature, including Giessel, have warned against the devastating impacts of the bill on Alaska families.
REMINDER: Nick Begich cast the deciding vote to rip health care away from nearly 40,000 people and kick almost 30,000 Alaskan households off their food assistance.
Here’s what she had to say:
“Our rural hospitals will be in jeopardy if people don’t have Medicaid to help support the cost of their health care. This will be a lot of unsupported health care being given, cost shifting to people that do have insurance. This actually jeopardizes all Alaskans, whether they’re the third of our population that receives Medicaid services or not.”
