Albany Times Union: 97 percent of Alison Esposito’s individual campaign donations came from outside district

After relocating from New York City, MAGA extremist Alison Esposito is unsurprisingly having trouble building support within New York’s 18th District – especially financially.

new report from the Times-Union exposed that in the fourth quarter of 2023, less than 3.5 percent of contributions to Esposito’s campaign came from within NY-18, while almost 15 percent of money she raised came from committees associated with Trump ally and far-right Republican party boss Elise Stefanik.

Meanwhile, voters are responding to Congressman Pat Ryan’s strong record of delivering for the Hudson Valley. Nearly 90 percent of Ryan’s contributions this quarter were less than $50, demonstrating his grassroots momentum.

DCCC Spokesperson Ellie Dougherty:
“Alison Esposito has been too busy aligning with election-denier Elise Stefanik to build support with actual Hudson Valley voters. Esposito’s extreme agenda is clearly out-of-touch with New York’s 18th District.”

Albany Times-Union: Majority of Alison Esposito’s contributions came from outside district

KEY POINTS:

  • In the fourth quarter of 2023, just three of 87 individual contributions to Republican Alison Esposito came from people within the district she is trying to represent — just shy of 3.5 percent, according to Federal Elections Commission filings.

  • Most individual contributions to Esposito’s campaign came from such places as Long Island, New York City, Westchester County and Florida. Ryan’s in-district contributions were concentrated in Ulster County, with fewer in Orange and Dutchess counties. Ulster County leans more Democratic than the other two counties, and Ryan served as Ulster County executive before running for Congress.

  • Ryan’s campaign raised $545,374 from individuals during the fourth quarter compared to Esposito’s $154,771. The amount raised by Esposito’s campaign — which includes contributions from political action committees and other fundraising committees — was $250,194, compared to Ryan’s $713,449.

  • Ryan’s campaign has pledged to not take corporate PAC money, according to his finance director, Kevin Ralph. He received money from other PACs in the fourth quarter, including union PACs.
