SCOTUS Ruling on Texas Abortion Law Spotlights Skarlatos’ Anti-Health Care Record
Today, the Supreme Court allowed Texas’ draconian six-week abortion ban to take effect, all but eliminating access to safe, legal abortion for patients across the state.
But this assault on patient rights and health care providers reaches far beyond the borders of Texas. With the Supreme Court set to consider a full reversal of Roe v. Wade this fall, this cruel law acts as a blueprint for Republican legislatures across the country to intimidate physicians, ban abortions, and strip access to health care for women.
Alek Skarlatos has stood in lockstep with extreme Republicans as they continue their assault on women’s health care. Skarlatos said ‘go for it’ on overturning Roe v. Wade and proudly accepted the endorsement of the extremist group Oregon Right to Life. He also supports defunding Planned Parenthood, which hundreds of thousands of Oregon women depend on for health care services.
“Alek Skarlatos is a threat to women’s health care in Oregon and across the country,” said DCCC Spokesperson Johanna Warshaw. “He’s standing with extreme Republicans as they ban abortion for millions of women.”
