Yesterday, one of the largest health systems in Kansas City announced it will no longer provide emergency contraception in the wake of Missouri’s radical abortion ban with no exceptions for rape or incest – delivering a devastating blow to women’s health care access in the state.
It’s a future that extremist Republicans like Amanda Adkins have been working towards – and if the Kansas constitutional amendment passes this August, women in Kansas could face the same fate.
REMINDER: Amanda Adkins said she “100 percent” will vote yes on Kansas’ constitutional amendment that paves the way for the state legislature to enact a total ban on abortion with no exceptions.
As chair of the Kansas Republican Party, Adkins pushed for a plan to make abortion illegal, even in cases of rape and incest. She also backed plans to defund Planned Parenthood, which provides affordable health care, including birth control and cancer screenings, to tens of thousands of Kansans every year.
