While Amanda Adkins has been working overtime to hide her anti-choice record from Kansans, her former boss apparently didn’t get the memo. Sam Brownback boldly compared the failed Kansas constitutional amendment to the first battle of the Civil War – making clear that Republicans’ fight to enact an extreme ban on abortion in the state continues.
Said Brownback: “When you get this level of something that’s entrenched, it’s just very hard to dislocate. And we’ve just got to keep at it and got to keep fighting at it.”
And there’s no doubt that Brownback’s longtime advisor Amanda Adkins will be with him every step of the way. When Adkins ran for Kansas Republican Party Chair, Brownback endorsed her run and they worked to draft a party platform that included making abortion illegal even in cases of rape and incest.
The two were also outspoken proponents of the anti-abortion constitutional amendment, with Adkins saying she “100 percent” backed the measure that Kansans resoundingly rejected at the ballot box.
