SCOTUS Ruling on Texas Abortion Law Spotlights Adkins’ Anti-Health Care Record
Today, the Supreme Court allowed Texas’ drastic six-week abortion ban to take effect, all but eliminating access to safe, legal abortion for patients across the state.
But this assault on patient rights and health care providers reaches far beyond the borders of Texas. With the Supreme Court set to consider a full reversal of Roe v. Wade this fall, this cruel law acts as a blueprint for Republican legislatures across the country to intimidate physicians, ban abortions, and strip access to health care for women.
Amanda Adkins has stood in lockstep with extreme Republicans as they continue their assault on women’s health care. Just like her former boss Sam Brownback, Adkins opposes Roe v. Wade and wants to make abortion illegal even in cases of rape and incest. She also supports defunding Planned Parenthood, which provides affordable health care to tens of thousands of Kansans every year.
“Amanda Adkins would be a disaster for women’s health care in Kansas and across the country,” said DCCC Spokesperson Johanna Warshaw. “She’s standing with extreme Republicans as they ban abortion for millions of women.”
