Congressman Ross Spano cosponsored legislation that would bar any tax credits for Floridians trying to buy into COBRA if their employer sponsored health care coverage extended to abortions.
Essentially, this bill could leave more than 1 million unemployed Floridians unable to stay on their employer’s insurance – even if they have never sought an abortion.
“It is absolutely shameful that Ross Spano is using a global pandemic as an opportunity to pursue his extreme, conservative anti-choice agenda,” said DCCC spokesperson Sarah Guggenheimer. “Between his multiple investigations, floundering fundraising, and his job as (for now) a sitting U.S. Congressman, Spano has enough on his plate and should just leave women alone.”
