Amir Hassan Makes Clear He Opposes ACA Tax Credits, Lowering Health Care Costs

Amir Hassan is making it clear exactly where he stands.

In a recent podcast appearance, Hassan said “we have to be careful of the government subsidizing health care” – in other words, no ACA tax credits that make insurance more affordable and no Medicaid.

Hassan supports 24,000 people in MI-08 paying more for their health care after his Washington allies cancelled these tax credits. He’d be a rubberstamp for his D.C. bosses’ agenda of raising health care costs for regular families while giving handouts to the rich.

Hassan: “It’s not for the government. We don’t have free health care in this country, like it or hate it. We don’t have free health care in this country and we have to be careful of the government subsidizing every single thing, and that’s what’s being proposed, that the government keeps subsidizing, keeps subsidizing.”

REMINDER: Hassan says he would have voted for the largest cuts to Medicaid in history and even said this bill that raises Michiganders’ health care costs “benefits this district tremendously.”

DCCC Spokesperson Katie Smith:
“While working families in his district are paying 20% more on average for health insurance this year than last year, Amir Hassan made it clear that he thinks they should pay even more for their health care. He’s completely out-of-touch with the reality of working families and wrong for Mid-Michigan.”
