| In special election after special election, Democrats are flipping Republican-held seats, winning by comfortable margins, and outperforming their 2024 benchmarks by an average of more than a dozen points, marking the strongest mid-cycle surge in recent history.
According to a new analysis from the Washington Post, “Democrats are overperforming in districts across the map, from Pennsylvania to Florida and California.”
Some of the largest swings are happening in states that Trump won in 2024. For example, in Iowa and Florida, Republican-held districts – including Iowa’s 1st Congressional district – witnessed stunning double-digit shifts towards Democrats.
This analysis comes as Republicans are losing on the generic ballot and their legislative agenda is melting down, with 55% of Americans opposing the Big, Ugly Bill according to a recent poll. The GOP Tax Scam is so toxic that even Speaker Johnson admitted their bill will cost Republicans the House majority next year.
DCCC Spokesperson Justin Chermol:
“While extreme House Republicans cave to the demands of Donald Trump and their billionaire donors to enact the largest cut to health care in American history, the Democratic message is resonating loud and clear – even in the reddest parts of the country. This new analysis makes clear Democrats are on track to build upon these off-year gains and flip control of the House next year.” |
