Andrew Garbarino Votes Against Protecting the Right to Vote

Vulnerable Republican Andrew Garbarino joins his party in voting to continue allowing states to enact discriminatory laws that make it harder to vote

Today, Rep. Andrew Garbarino voted against H.R. 4, the landmark John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act to restore and strengthen anti-discrimination enforcement authorities in the Voting Rights Act of 1965. As states across the country pass Jim Crow-style voter intimidation and suppression laws, Garbarino voted to continue to allow states to restrict access to the ballot box, especially for voters of color, low-income voters, seniors, servicemembers, and voters with disabilities.

“Republicans like Andrew Garbarino would rather choose their voters than the other way around,” said DCCC spokesperson Abel Iraola. “Instead of actually passing policies that help hardworking Americans, Rep. Garbarino once again sided with those in his party who are trying to change the rules to keep people from voting.”
